Our first adventure was a swell dinner prepared by my cousin Ginny. It was on the 4th of July, which featured yard decorations and a fireworks show in Idaho Falls.

Then it was on to Yellowstone, where the buffalo were plentiful. And the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone was . . . grand! We saw bubbling paint pots and bacterial mats. And of course Old Faithful and the Old Faithful Inn. Possibly the high point of Yellowstone was an evening walk along the rim of the Grand Canyon.

On the way back to Ogden we stopped in Malad, which is where I was raised. Population 2095. Got a surprisingly good BBQ lunch there.

Back in Ogden, David, Susan, and I did a killer hike. And we visited nephew Jesse's swell new house in Reese, home of Mosquito Days.

Finally, we caught the train home at about midnight.
